The LA DOTD advises that weather permitting on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, the US 171 north bound lanes will be diverted onto the recently completed detour road.  This will create a two-way traffic configuration within the US 171 south bound lanes through the construction work zone.  The detour road is located just north of Pickering High School.  The two-way traffic configuration will remain in place for the duration of the project.
 
The traffic diversion is necessary to allow the contractor to remove and replace the existing concrete girder bridge.
 
Permit/Detour section
There will be no width restrictions as a result of this temporary closure.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises that weather permitting; on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 road construction work will begin on LA 184 from Fort Polk to Junction LA 8.  This 2.922 mile long section will receive pavement patching, cold planning asphaltic concrete, and superpave asphaltic concrete.
 
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Prairie Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $761,538.06.
 
 
Permit/Detour section
The roadway will be restricted to wide load vehicles.  Lane closures are expected for up to 24 hour periods during the concrete pavement patching operation.  The contractor will have flagmen on the project, for the entire duration of the daytime and nighttime lane closure, in order to direct traffic.  One lane will be accessible at all times.
