Vernon Lake:

Vernon Lake is a 4,600 acre impoundment located near Anacoco, La. Designated as a La. quality lake, this lake attracts many largemouth bass anglers. The lake is partially wooded, with lots of dead timber in the upper end of the lake. Open water is located near the dam. Fishing for crappie, bluegill and redear sunfish is said to be excellent especially during the spring, early summer, and fall months. 

   

Hickory Ridge Recreation Park

Hickory Ridge Recreation Park is located on Vernon Lake and is maintained and operated by the Vernon Parish Police Jury for public use. Hickory Ridge consist of eight campsites which all have electricity. 

  

Campsites 7-8: Only campsites with water
All campsites have electricity.
Campsite 6: Has both a 20 and 30 amp RV hook-up
Campsites 3-5: Share two 20 amp RV hook-ups
Campsite 8: Has two 30 amp RV hook-ups

Hickory Ridge Recreation Park is a gated campground with tent and RV camping, bathrooms and showers, enclosed pavilion, a fish-cleaning station, running water, public boat ramp outside gate, fishing and swimming areas, tables and charcoal grills, and a dock area.

Camping at Hickory Ridge is oriented for family atmosphere. The Vernon Parish Police Jury intends to provide the residents of Vernon Parish with outdoor recreational opportunities.  For rental information, please call 337.238.0324

The fee for the use of the campsite is as follows per campsite:

 

CAMPER TRAILER = $15.00 PER DAY
TENT ONLY = $10.00 PER DAY
BUILDING = $25.00 PER DAY

WHOLE PARK (BUILDING included) = $80.00 PER DAY

*WHOLE PARK RENTALS must be paid a week in advance.  Failure to pay within this period will result in the loss of your campsite rental.

 


Anacoco Lake:

 Anacoco Lake is located just west of Leesville, La., and is south of La. Hwy. 8. The lake was created in 1951, when a dam was built across Anacoco Bayou. After the dam was completed the lake was stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish. The impoundment is approximately 2,600 acres in size.  

Methodist Landing Recreation Park

Methodist Landing Recreation Park is located on Anacoco Lake and is maintained and operated by the Vernon Parish Police Jury for public use. Methodist Landing has twelve campsites which all have electricity. Methodist Landing Recreation Park is a gated camping ground with tent and RV camping available, bathrooms, showers, enclosed pavilion, fish-cleaning station, running water, public boat ramp, fishing and swimming areas, covered picnic areas with tables, charcoal grills, and dock area.
